Charles P. Toppino is the founder and President of Oak Pass Capital Management ("OPC") and has been actively involved in the commercial real estate industry for over 20 years. His experience includes acquisitions, asset management, sourcing equity and debt financing and serving as an advisor to buyers and sellers of assets in the U.S., Europe and Asia. At OPC, Mr. Toppino's focus is on investing in high yielding commercial mortgage and real estate assets with institutional investors and private equity capital partners.

Prior to forming OPC, Mr. Toppino was a Senior Principal at Square Mile Capital Management from July 2008 to December 2010. Mr. Toppino focused on expanding the firm's investment platform on the West Coast and growing its national loan acquisition activities. Mr. Toppino was successful in building a strong acquisition and management team and sourced, acquired and managed an attractive portfolio of high yield real estate equity, B-notes and distressed senior debt positions.

  Prior to Oak Pass and Square Mile, Mr. Toppino was a principal and founding partner of Secured Capital Corp ("SCC"), a real estate investment bank that focused on advising the commercial real estate sector. The company was formed in 1990 by Mr. Toppino and three other professionals from Drexel Burnham Lambert who collectively ran Drexel's Commercial Mortgage Trading Group from 1986 to 1990.  In 2006, Secured Capital merged with Eastdil Realty, a real estate investment banking and brokerage company and wholly owned subsidiary of Wells Fargo. Mr. Toppino served as a member of the Management Committee and head of its secondary mortgage sales business until he retired from Eastdil Secured in 2008. 

Mr. Toppino was also a founding partner of Secured Capital Investment Management Co. ("SCIM"), formally Secured Capital Japan Co. Ltd., a private equity real estate investment and management company located in Japan with over $10 billion of real estate and debt assets under management. PAG and SCJ merged to create one of the Asia’s largest multi-asset alternative investment companies. Mr. Toppino a member of the SCIM investment committee and shareholder of this company, as an observer.  He was also a founding partner of STAM, a Paris based European real estate investment and management company with over $1.3 billion of real estate investments in France, Brussels and Spain. 

Mr. Toppino holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the Fisher School of Accounting at the University of Florida and serves as a member of the Chairman's Circle for the Kelly Bergstrom Center for Real Estate Studies at the University of Florida and the Executive Committee Member of the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate.
